Full-Arch Restorations Can Replace All of Your Teeth, Renewing Your Smile and Oral Function

If you have suffered extensive dental damage, or if you are missing all of your teeth, you can benefit from the full-arch restorations at our Troy, MI practice. Dr. Craig GoldinDr. Marcy Goldin, and Dr. David Whalen are dedicated to personalized care. We offer several types of restorations and will help you choose the right type for your needs. If you desire the most secure and realistic restoration available, consider implant-supported dentures and implant-supported fixed bridges. We also offer traditional dentures, which can be a good option if you do not qualify for dental implants. At the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute, all of our restorations are custom-crafted from advanced materials. Therefore, your full-arch restoration will very closely resemble your natural teeth.

Your full-arch dental restoration can be permanently attached to dental implants inserted in your jaw, or it can be removable and rest on your gums.

Traditional, Removable Dentures

Traditional dentures are a simple and relatively fast choice to replace a full arch of teeth. Until recently, dentures were unwieldy and ill-fitting. Today, we use advanced fabrication techniques and state-of-the-art materials to provide comfortable, realistic prosthetics. To provide your denture, the doctors at the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute will take impressions of your gums and any remaining teeth. Our lab will use the impressions to create a denture that fits securely over your alveolar ridge. The plastic base will match the color of your gums.

At the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute, we want to restore your smile as soon as possible. Therefore, we provide same-day dentures in many cases.

Traditional dentures are removable, and they usually require denture adhesive for additional support. You will take the prosthetic out while you sleep. You will also need to remove it daily for thorough cleanings.

For your convenience, both surgical and restorative procedures are performed here, at the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute.

Implant-supported Dentures and Same-day Restorations

Our implant-supported dentures offer the ultimate in form and function. As expert implantologists, our dentists can perform implant surgery to provide a strong base for your prosthetic. Following your procedure, the implants will fuse with the bone in your jaw and replace your tooth roots. Once your implants have fully fused with the bone, our doctors can attach your full-arch restoration. Like our traditional dentures, our implant-supported restorations are made with the latest materials. In addition, the prosthetic will remain in place permanently, and the implant posts will prevent jaw recession.

Same-day Dentures

At the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute, we want to restore your smile as soon as possible. Therefore, we provide same-day dentures in many cases. If you are going to undergo full-mouth extractions, we can often fit you with a removable denture that you can wear home. With this restoration, you will be able to enjoy a more diverse range of foods, and most people will never know you have a new denture - they will just think something about you looks better and more youthful. Keep in mind that your gums will change shape as they heal, and you will need to return to the office so we can fit your permanent prosthetic.

Often, we can also provide same-day implant-supported dentures. Immediately after your implant surgery, your dentist will attach a full-mouth restoration. This restoration will be temporary, but stable. After your jaw has fully healed from surgery, you will receive your permanent denture.

Which Type of Full-arch Restoration Is Right for You?

Ultimately, the optimal full-arch restoration depends on three factors:

  • Your jawbone health. Significant bone recession may disqualify you from implants. However, a bone graft can renew your ability to undergo treatment.
  • Overall health. If you have a chronic condition that may compromise healing, elective implant surgery may not be appropriate.
  • Your budget. A traditional denture will cost less than an implant-supported restoration. Nevertheless, many patients find dental implants to be a worthwhile investment in their health, appearance, and quality of life.
